The Face of God | Luke 8:26–39
What do we see when we look into the face of Jesus?
In a world that reads faces to judge character, status, and identity, Christ reveals something far deeper: the very heart of God. In this week’s Gospel, we encounter Jesus as He heals a man possessed by demons—showing His divine authority, compassion, and the unshakable peace He alone can give. Through this act and through His journey to the cross, Jesus shows us not only His power, but His purpose: to set His face toward Jerusalem for our salvation.
🕊 “For God… has shone in our hearts to give the light of the knowledge of the glory of God in the face of Jesus Christ.” (2 Corinthians 4:6)
Key Takeaways:
Jesus reveals the heart of God through His face and His actions. He willingly “sets His face” toward suffering to save us.His healing brings peace that reaches deeper than any affliction.

Jesus Overcomes Our Estrangement | Luke 8:26–39
Estrangement is more than distance—it's a broken relationship, where communication has collapsed and people live in separation, sometimes even hostility. In Luke 8, we meet a man who embodies this estrangement: isolated, tormented, and living among the dead. Yet Jesus crosses the sea to reach even him.
In this sermon, we see how Jesus heals the man possessed by a legion of demons, not merely to show power over evil—but to overcome separation. Separation from self. From others. From God.
That same Savior still comes to us today—through the boat of His Church, in the power of His Word and Spirit. He brings healing where there is hurt, communion where there is division, and peace where there was once only torment. Jesus overcomes our estrangement.
Key Takeaway:Jesus doesn’t avoid the broken—He seeks them. He brings the Gospel to the spiritually isolated, and He restores us to the family of God.

🕊️ The Great, Merciful I AMJohn 8:48–59 | Before Abraham Was, I AmJune 15–17, 2025Trinity Sunday & Father’s Day
On this Trinity Sunday and Father’s Day, we are reminded that the Church is not a museum for saints—but a hospital for sinners. Jesus, the eternal “I AM,” speaks not with condemnation, but with the mercy and authority of God Himself. His words in John 8 echo the voice of Wisdom in Proverbs 8 and the majesty of Psalm 8, where God crowns humanity with glory and honor. This same Jesus, crucified and risen, is proclaimed by Peter in Acts 2 as both Lord and Christ—the living God who took on flesh for us.
The doctrine of the Holy Trinity is not an abstract riddle, but a reality lived and confessed. The Father sends, the Son saves, and the Spirit sanctifies. The Athanasian Creed boldly proclaims this mystery: one God in three persons. And on this Father’s Day, we give thanks for earthly fathers—not for perfection, but for the calling they have to reflect the care and steadfast love of our heavenly Father.
Come, then, with your sins, your weakness, and your burdens. The Triune God welcomes you with mercy and strength. In the Sacrament, He feeds you with Christ’s true body and blood, uniting you with Himself and with His Church.

🔥 Come, Holy Ghost!Today, we reflect on Jesus’ promise in John 14:23–31—a promise fulfilled at Pentecost when the Holy Spirit descended not to confuse, but to clarify; not to divide, but to unite.
At Babel, humanity sought to reach heaven through pride and power. At Calvary, Christ descended in humility to build a better tower—the Cross. And at Pentecost, God sends His Spirit so that the Gospel might be heard in every tongue.
The Holy Spirit doesn't just translate language—He transforms hearts. Where Babel brought division, Pentecost brings peace. Where human effort failed, divine mercy prevails.
🕊️ Join us for worship as we rejoice in the gift of the Holy Spirit, who sanctifies our speech, proclaims Christ’s peace, and gathers the nations into one Church.
🔑 Key Takeaways:Babel was prideful ascent; the Cross is God’s gracious descent.
Pentecost reverses Babel by sanctifying our speech—not erasing difference, but exalting the Gospel in every tongue.
The Holy Spirit bridges the ultimate divide—not between languages, but between God and man.
“Peace I leave with you; My peace I give to you.” (John 14:27)
