January 28, 2024.Divine Service. 8 A.M. | Mark 1:21–28 | Jesus Heals a Man with an Unclean Spirit

: Several years ago, one of my teeth, a molar in the back of my mouth broke while I was eating popcorn. My dentist here in Sheboygan referred me to a dentist in Milwaukee who specialized in tooth implants. When I arrived there with my clergy collar on, thinking this appointment would be simply to see what the problem was, this middle eastern doctor says to me, “You holy man. We start today, otherwise you will not be ready for Lent.” Right before he took out the drill to remove my tooth, he took my blood pressure. Then he said this, “calm down holy man!” So, why did he call me a holy man? It wasn’t because he knew me. He just met me. It was because he knew that in my vocation of pastor, I was called and ordained to speak the word of the Holy One of God, Jesus Christ.
