Sermon: The Bread that Gives Eternal Life | John 6:35–51 | I Am the Bread of Life

Jesus says, “I am the living bread that came down from heaven. If anyone eats of this bread, he will live forever.” This is indeed good news! Imagine if that news got out into our community. We have a bread here in this place that brings eternal life, a cure for death, a bread that has the power to raise you to life from death.

Well, the demand would be overwhelming. The crowds here at Trinity Lutheran Church would rival the crowds at major sporting events. People would be lining up for this bread for miles - trying to break down our doors to get it. People would be bringing their children and friends from miles to get this living bread from heaven. This is exactly what happens each Lord’s Day here in this place.

Jesus gives us His very body and blood in, with and under bread and wine for the forgiveness of sins life and salvation! What else can we do but sing, “Thank the Lord and sing His praise tell everyone what He has done!”
