🕊️ Jesus is Praying that We Become OneJohn 17:20–26 | The High Priestly Prayer📅 Sunday Service — Trinity Lutheran Church, Sheboygan
In this powerful Gospel reading from John 17, we hear Jesus' prayer for unity—true unity—the kind that reflects His own oneness with the Father. And yet, the Church today can often feel fractured, broken, and divided. So how do we make sense of the contrast between Christ’s prayer and the disunity we witness?
This Sunday—nestled between Ascension and Pentecost—reminds us of the ongoing, active work of God in His Church. Christ is not absent. He is ascended, praying for us, and sending His Spirit through His Word. This is not our church built on human effort. It is God’s Church, built by His Word, united in the forgiveness of sins.
🔑 Key Takeaways
Jesus’ prayer is for our unity in Him
The Church exists because of God’s work, not ours
Unity comes through His Word, not compromise
Between Ascension and Pentecost, we are reminded of His ongoing mission

🙏 Praying Like Children | John 16:23–33 | Trinity Lutheran Church (LCMS) – Sheboygan, WI
📖 “In the world you will have tribulation. But take heart; I have overcome the world.” (John 16:33)What does it mean to pray like children in a world that feels like it’s overcoming the Church? In this week’s message, we reflect on the bold truth that Jesus has overcome — even when the world feels heavy, even when tribulation surrounds us.
On the night He was betrayed, Jesus prayed from a place of agony — not glory. And so do we. Like children who need their Father, we cry out in faith, not sight. In today’s Gospel, Jesus invites us to trust not in outcomes, but in Him. To believe the promise is just as real as the empty tomb. Because it is.
📌 Key Takeaways:
Jesus has overcome — the cross, the grave, the world.
Our prayers come from Gethsemane, not glory — but they are heard.
We have a Father who listens — even when the answer waits for eternity.
“Blessed are those who have not seen and yet have believed” (John 20:29)
✝️ Join us as we pray like children — trusting our Father to answer.
