There has been a big push for early voting this year. If you haven’t voted yet, remember that election day is this Tuesday. When someone votes it’s a way of choosing who they want as a leader. As of today, we don’t know who the majority of “we the people” want as the president of the United States. In the kingdom of God, however, there is no question about who our Lord wants as His people. There is no doubt concerning the outcome of His election. It is already done. Jesus already voted…for you. You are His elect, those who are blessed from before the creation of the world.----- Trinity Lutheran Church, School and Child Care have been "Making Known the Love of Christ" in Sheboygan, Wisconsin and throughout the world since 1853 as a congregation gathering around God's Word and Sacraments to receive forgiveness and life everlasting. What makes you afraid? Perhaps you are afraid of the results of the upcoming elections. Perhaps you are afraid of an upcoming medical procedure. Perhaps you are afraid of where you will spend eternity. Perhaps you wonder if your sins are too great to enter into heaven. None of these need to make us afraid.
Why not? Because we know that God is our fortress. We know that He is our strength. We know that we are justified by grace through faith in Jesus Christ apart from the works of the Law. God is by our side upon the plain with His good gifts and Spirit. If he keeps us safe from our own sin, from death, and from hell, how much more will he take care of us in this life and in the life to come?
So, no matter what happens, we need not be afraid of the monster of uncertainty in our life! The Lord of hosts is with us! The God of Jacob is our fortress!-----Trinity Lutheran Church, School and Child Care have been "Making Known the Love of Christ" in Sheboygan, Wisconsin and throughout the world since 1853 as a congregation gathering around God's Word and Sacraments to receive forgiveness and life everlasting. The phrase, “Easier said than done” is said of a task that is easier to talk about than to do. We’ve been talking about the task of salvation. Last week we heard how the rich young ruler talked about how he had followed the commandments and how Jesus had exposed the fact that he didn’t actually do them.
Clearly the commandments are easier said than done. Today, Jesus takes it even further when He says, “It is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle than for a rich person to enter the kingdom of God.” This leads the disciples to ask, “Then who can be saved?” Jesus looked at them and said, “With man it is impossible, but not with God. For all things are possible with God.” Only God can save us and that is what He does in Christ. For with Jesus word and deed are one and the same. In other words, what Jesus says is done every time.-----Trinity Lutheran Church, School and Child Care have been "Making Known the Love of Christ" in Sheboygan, Wisconsin and throughout the world since 1853 as a congregation gathering around God's Word and Sacraments to receive forgiveness and life everlasting. Our Savior who in His incarnation became one flesh with us, so that through His death and resurrection He might make us one flesh with Him. On the cross He spoke His marriage vow to us, His sacred “I will,” as He laid down His life for His bride. Just as a tree broke that first marriage in Paradise, so a tree has restored marriage – our relationship with God. In Christ, we are washed clean and made holy in the forgiveness of our sins.
And this vow our Savior did not only make once – once for all on the cross, and then once for me and you in Holy Baptism. Not only then, but He also renews His vows to us His vows of forgiveness, life, and salvation – every time we gather here at His altar, taking us in His arms in the Absolution, and giving us His body and blood in His Supper. Here delighting in us, as He makes us His own.
Never tiring of receiving us. Never tiring of forgiving us. We brides who come as black as sin and leave as white as snow. For the Son came from the Father and holds fast to His wife, His Church.

Today, we thank God for His angels. Those fighters, messengers, and worshipers God sends to help us. But do not thank them for their service they do not want your thanks. They want you only to thank the one who created them and you, and who, as we prayed earlier: ordained and constituted the service of angels and men in a wonderful order. Thank and praise the one who came and fought for you on the cross and died for you, that you who die might live forever. The angels are the Secret Service and want to stay that way.
For it is Jesus who saves you, not them. It is Jesus who died for you, not them. It is Jesus they proclaim and want proclaimed, not them. Today we gather around the altar with the angels, join their hymn of praise, and we will receive the body and blood of Jesus, and His victory over the steely cages of sin and death.-----Trinity Lutheran Church, School and Child Care have been "Making Known the Love of Christ" in Sheboygan, Wisconsin and throughout the world since 1853 as a congregation gathering around God's Word and Sacraments to receive forgiveness and life everlasting.
