The Baptism of Our Lord | Luke 3:15–22
Why was Jesus baptized? He had no sins to repent of or to be forgiven for—yet He stepped into the Jordan River to be baptized by John. Today’s Gospel reading shows us the Word made flesh entering the water, not for His sake, but for ours.
In His baptism, Jesus began His journey to the cross, taking our sins upon Himself. This powerful moment reminds us of our own baptism, where the Word of God in and with the water forgives, renews, and grants eternal life.
🔹 Sermon Highlight:"When Jesus came up out of the water, He carried our sins and our death sentence with Him. From that moment, He began His journey to the cross to pay the price for the sin of the world—for your sin and mine. Through His baptism, our baptisms are made powerful and full of grace."
🔹 Scripture Focus: Luke 3:15–22🔹 Themes: The Baptism of Jesus, The Power of Baptism, Forgiveness, and Christ’s Sacrifice.
Be encouraged to reflect on your own baptism and the grace poured out on you through water and the Word, made possible by Christ’s perfect obedience and sacrificial love.
