The Transfiguration of our Lord gives us a glimpse of His glory. We, like Peter, would love to stay on those glorious mountain top moments of our lives and live in the glory of the resurrection. Unfortunately, we have to come down the mountain and face both the glorious moments in our life and those full of suffering. The voice of the Father reminds us, in good times and bad, to listen to His beloved Son who says, "Rise, and have no fear." Jesus only is enough for now and always. Support the show-----Trinity Lutheran Church, School and Child Care have been "Making Known the Love of Christ" in Sheboygan, Wisconsin and throughout the world since 1853 as a congregation gathering around God's Word and Sacraments to receive forgiveness and life everlasting. Bible Study: A Glimpse of Glory

Thursday Feb 16, 2023

Thursday Feb 16, 2023

The Transfiguration confirms “the prophetic word … to which you will do well to pay attention as to a lamp shining in a dark place” (2 Peter 1:19). The divine glory of Jesus is manifested in the word of His apostles, who were “eyewitnesses of his majesty” (2 Peter 1:16). “He was transfigured before them, and his face shone like the sun” (Matt. 17:2). Moses and Elijah witnessed the fulfillment of the Old Testament in this Lord Jesus, and the Father testified concerning Him: “This is my beloved Son, with whom I am well pleased” (Matt. 17:5). By His own blood, shed on the cross, Jesus makes and seals the new covenant with us. Hence, “the appearance of the glory of the Lord” is no longer “like a devouring fire” (Ex. 24:17), but it is graciously revealed in His own body.As “Aaron, Nadab, and Abihu, and seventy of the elders of Israel” went up the mountain with Moses and “beheld God, and ate and drank” (Ex. 24:9, 11), we also behold the Lord our God in Christ Jesus, and we abide with Him as we eat and drink His body and blood at the altar.Support the show-----Trinity Lutheran Church, School and Child Care have been "Making Known the Love of Christ" in Sheboygan, Wisconsin and throughout the world since 1853 as a congregation gathering around God's Word and Sacraments to receive forgiveness and life everlasting. Sermon: He Said What?

Sunday Feb 12, 2023

Sunday Feb 12, 2023

The phrase, “He said what?” is a way of expressing such astonishment at what someone has spoken as to request that it be repeated.  When we hear that Jesus said, “you must be perfect as your heavenly father is perfect” (Matthew 5:48) we’re like, “He said what?”   It’s hard for us to believe that the bar for our lives could be set so high that it is impossible for us to reach.  But you heard it right, it’s what He said.  Yet, that’s not all He said.  For He also said, “I am the resurrection and the life.  He who believes in Me will live, even though he dies; and whoever lives and believes in Me will never die” (John 11:25-26).  He said what?  He said, “Do not think that I have come to abolish the Law or the Prophets; I have not come to abolish them but to fulfill them” (Matthew 5:17).  He said, “I am the way, and the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me” (John 14:6).  He said, “My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me.  I give them eternal life, and they will never perish, and no one will snatch them out of my hand” (John 10:27-28). Support the show-----Trinity Lutheran Church, School and Child Care have been "Making Known the Love of Christ" in Sheboygan, Wisconsin and throughout the world since 1853 as a congregation gathering around God's Word and Sacraments to receive forgiveness and life everlasting. Bible Study: He Said What?

Thursday Feb 09, 2023

Thursday Feb 09, 2023

The God who reveals Himself in His incarnate Son promises life and blessing to all who obey His commandments “by loving the LORD your God, by walking in his ways, and by keeping his commandments and his statutes and his rules” (Deut. 30:16). However, we are “people of the flesh” and “infants in Christ” (1 Cor. 3:1), among whom “there is jealousy and strife” (1 Cor. 3:3). Jesus must instruct us against the human ways of anger, adultery, divorce and false witness (Matt. 5:21–37), because all who live in these ways “shall surely perish” (Deut. 30:18). On the cross, He died to forgive our sins and free us from the ways of curse and death. Since Jesus Christ is our “life and length of days” (Deut. 30:20), we can be reconciled to our brother, live in chastity and marital faithfulness, and speak with honesty. He who serves from His cross also offers His gift of reconciliation at His altar, and we can be at peace with our brothers and sisters in Christ who are “God’s field, God’s building” (1 Cor. 3:9).Support the show-----Trinity Lutheran Church, School and Child Care have been "Making Known the Love of Christ" in Sheboygan, Wisconsin and throughout the world since 1853 as a congregation gathering around God's Word and Sacraments to receive forgiveness and life everlasting. Sermon: Salty and Bright

Sunday Feb 05, 2023

Sunday Feb 05, 2023

You are the salt of the earth. It’s a given, granted by Jesus Himself. As a disciple of Jesus, you are salt. Salt seasons, purifies, and preserves. When you sprinkle it on a dish it tickles the taste buds. A little goes a long way. Wherever God sprinkles you – in your home, your community, your work, your school – there you salt, seasoning your little corner of the world with Jesus.  You are the light of the world. Jesus is the light of the world too. In fact, He is the source of light while you are the reflection of that light. Like the moon reflecting the sun’s rays, Jesus is the light, and you reflect His light into the darkness of this world. Like salt, light makes a difference. It’s noticed like a shining city set high on a hill or like a lamp set a on a stand that fills the whole house with light.  In Christ, you are the salt of the earth and the light of the world. Support the show-----Trinity Lutheran Church, School and Child Care have been "Making Known the Love of Christ" in Sheboygan, Wisconsin and throughout the world since 1853 as a congregation gathering around God's Word and Sacraments to receive forgiveness and life everlasting. Bible Study: Salty and Bright

Thursday Feb 02, 2023

Thursday Feb 02, 2023

Jesus warns that “unless your righteousness exceeds that of the scribes and Pharisees, you will never enter the kingdom of heaven” (Matt. 5:20), but He also calls His imperfect people “the salt of the earth” and “the light of the world” (Matt. 5:13, 14). That’s because the Lord Jesus came not to abolish the Law or the prophets, “but to fulfill them” (Matt. 5:17) in perfect faith and love. Since He does and teaches all of God’s commandments, He is “called great in the kingdom of heaven” (Matt. 5:19). God manifests His “demonstration of the Spirit and of power” in “Jesus Christ and him crucified” (1 Cor. 2:2–4), and through the preaching of the Gospel He gives His “secret and hidden wisdom” (1 Cor. 2:7). Christ gives this perfect righteousness to His people, and it leads them to true fasting, which is “to loose the bonds of wickedness, to undo the straps of the yoke, to let the oppressed go free” (Is. 58:6) and “to share your bread with the hungry and bring the homeless poor into your house” (Is. 58:7).Support the show-----Trinity Lutheran Church, School and Child Care have been "Making Known the Love of Christ" in Sheboygan, Wisconsin and throughout the world since 1853 as a congregation gathering around God's Word and Sacraments to receive forgiveness and life everlasting.
