It is estimated that there are more than one hundred different types of bread made in this world of ours. It’s why it is fascinating to learn today that there is only one bread of heaven, one bread that sustains our life with God and each other. One bread that delivers the benefits of the work of God. One bread “that gives life to the world.” Jesus said, “I am the bread of life; whoever comes to me shall not hunger, and whoever believes in me shall never thirst.”-----Trinity Lutheran Church, School and Child Care have been "Making Known the Love of Christ" in Sheboygan, Wisconsin and throughout the world since 1853 as a congregation gathering around God's Word and Sacraments to receive forgiveness and life everlasting. When you take a look around in this congregation, it doesn’t take much imagination to see a crowd like those on the shore of Lake Gennesaret. People who are tired and sick, hurting and struggling and in need of help. People who look defeated by the troubles of life and our struggles with them. But we are not defeated! We are not alone facing the stormy seas. We are not alone facing trials and struggles. We are ever alone. Jesus is with you. He never changes. He is the God who is able. He is able to create, able to keep, able to save. He will not pass you by. You are His. And though the way be rough, and the storms be huge now, know this: He is the God who is able to save you!-----Trinity Lutheran Church, School and Child Care have been "Making Known the Love of Christ" in Sheboygan, Wisconsin and throughout the world since 1853 as a congregation gathering around God's Word and Sacraments to receive forgiveness and life everlasting. Do our hearts go out to people around us as did the heart of Jesus?  Have you looked around you to see the pain, suffering and hurt in the world, in your community, in your family? Maybe it is time that we take a closer look at the emptiness, confusion and loneliness that lies in our world. Maybe it is time that we see people with the eyes of Jesus as sheep without a Shepherd. How can the church help? How can you help and have compassion? How has Christ fed you today and had compassion on you?-----Trinity Lutheran Church, School and Child Care have been "Making Known the Love of Christ" in Sheboygan, Wisconsin and throughout the world since 1853 as a congregation gathering around God's Word and Sacraments to receive forgiveness and life everlasting. King Herod’s lust, pride and probably his consumption of one too many drinks at his own party, made him speak words he would later regret. To impress his guests he made a vow to his niece who had just danced for him, “Ask me for whatever you wish, and I will give it to you. Up to half my kingdom.” There’s an old saying, “Be careful what you wish for.”
Herod’s niece didn’t know what to ask for, so she wished for what her adulterous mother wanted, namely, the head of John the Baptist on a platter. Caught in his own bravado and not wanting to look bad in front of his guests, Herod granted her wish. This wish of Herodias spoken through her daughter silenced the only one around who was telling her the truth of her sin. Getting what she wished for led to the continued impenitence and condemnation of herself and Herod. Be careful what you wish for.-----Trinity Lutheran Church, School and Child Care have been "Making Known the Love of Christ" in Sheboygan, Wisconsin and throughout the world since 1853 as a congregation gathering around God's Word and Sacraments to receive forgiveness and life everlasting.
